Why was the Hotel demolished?

Metropolitan Hotel was popular with people in the local area.

Its "Pub"` attracted locals as did the sporting activities held at the hotel. Times were changing. Dubai had grown over the past forty years as had the local population. They expected more than the original hotel could deliver. Increasing competition from newer hotels meant the Metropolitan Hotel had to be demolished and replaced with new.
