Kees Versluis and his Father circa 1975

Kees Versluis' Father was a Dredge Master with Costain Blankenvoort
Cobla (as they became known) carried out dredging in late 1960s and 1970s
for Port Rashid Construction and also Shindaga Tunnel in Dubai Creek.
Kees has kindly contributed photos his Father took during his time in Dubai.
″For a 14 year old boy there was a lot of mystique and loneliness in those pictures.
I still have the old postcards with their stamps that my Father sent me from Dubai.
Result has been in a lifelong fascination with all things UAE!
It took me 39 years to get to Dubai but I wasn't disappointed.
My preference is Dubai Creek and its Abras. I tried to duplicate a couple of photos my Father took along the Creek.
Photos my Father took are obviously of Dubai Creek with others taken from his hotel room.
Picture quality is not good but the nostalgia is overwhelming, no rat race back then..‶
