Dubai Creek was a major export centre for Dubai
Cargoes imported through Port Rashid then exported around the Gulf and to India and Africa via Dubai Creek.
In earlier times, Dhows sailed from Dubai Creek carrying gold, electronics and alcohol for importation (illegally) into other countries.
