I lived in Dubai for 30 plus years before retiring in 2003.
I returned as a Tourist in 2005.
Dubai had changed in that time.
Not that should have been a surprise!
In 2003 I attended a Shipping Community event to present Annual Awards to Shipping Organisations.
Instead of shipping, the Speaker talked about Dubai's future as a Tourist Destination
He said there was a need for 12,000 beds to accommodate Tourists.
Two years later, Dubai was on its way to achieving its objective.
