First UK Political Agency built in Trucial States was at Dubai 1950s

Dubai's Ruler Sheikh Saeed confirmed in October 1950 he agreed the grant of a piece of land for the Political Agency.

This site alongside Dubai Creek was six hectares, later enlarged by a further grant of land in 1965.

A single-storey building, comprising both residence and offices, including a courtroom, was completed by directly employed labour in 1954. Back then non Muslims were subject to British Law, hence the courtroom.

A new residence and a two-storey office extension were built in the mid-1960s with numerous staff bungalows added since then.

Grounds were spacious enough to incorporate a small Golf Course.
