Sheikh Saeed's Palace 1976

Sheikh Saeed bin Hasher Al Maktoum was Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum's Father.
Sheikh Saeed's died in 1958 and his Palace in Shindaga abandoned.
Built from traditional materials such as coral rock and barasti
Sheikh Saeed's Palace soon fell into disrepair, eventually becoming derelict.
I took these photos one afternoon sometime around 1976.
At that time many of Dubai's traditional buildings were demolished making way for modern commercial buildings.
Although derelict, Sheikh Saeed's Palace retained its traditional decorations, albeit faded and damaged.
By 1988 Sheikh Saeed's Palace was restored and opened as an historic site.
