Dubai's Markets as they used to be

Dubai's Residents mostly bought their fruit, vegetable and fish at local markets before Supermarkets arrived.
Fish was locally caught while the fruit and vegetables may have come from a variety of sources. Some were flown in from exotic locations. Vegetables may have come from local farms or as far away as Lebanon or Iraq.
Road trucks travelled to Dubai to pick up high value goods to transport to Lebanon and Iraq. These trucks would travel to Dubai carrying fresh fruit and vegetable.
Iran was another source of fresh fruit and vegetables.
Markets were located throughout Dubai. People had their favourite markets, often shopping at the same stall. Stallholders offered both regular and new Customers cold drinks and free bananas as a customary part of their service.
As Dubai's population grew Supermarkets appeared offering a range of food items sourced from around the world and flown to Dubai in ever increasing airlines.
Refrigeration became a household norm so frequent food buying was no longer essential.
